Position Location and Details

AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, LLC is seeking a qualified and experienced candidate for the post of Pharmacist for its medical facility in Liberia.

Job Title: Pharmacist

Report To: Clinical Lead/Country Manager

Assignment Duration: This position is available for an indefinite period, either full-time or part-time.

Job Summary: The Pharmacist is responsible for delivering pharmaceutical services by managing the pharmacy and dispensing prescription medicines and supplies, maintaining inventory of medicinal products and supplies used in the hospital, recording stock relating to medicinal use, and ensuring the safe and secure storage of all medicines and hospital supplies. They must be an excellent communicator, a responsible and well-trained professional, and able to give his/her best with little supervision.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the doctor and clinical staff with delivering professional health services, including the provision of pharmacy services that adhere to the facility's policies and procedures.
  • Supports the clinical team positively as a willing contributor to working in a team environment.
  • Responsible for stock control of all drugs and medications within the pharmacy and maintaining adequate stock levels, keeping in mind stock rotation.
  • Maintains and expands the existing supply chain of medication.
  • Works hand in hand with the paramedic and clinical staff regarding stock orders and purchases.
  • Participates in the daily morning meeting with the billing department to ensure that the correct stock is billed as per previous day/night patient records.
  • Appropriately stores and safes medications, including the provision of refrigeration and climate-controlled areas, for the storage of bulk and semi-bulk health material.
  • Provides internal resupply to all medical facility departments.
  • Works in accordance with posted rostering and maintains approved training standards as required.
  • Ensures operational readiness of pharmacy services and equipment, including personal equipment.
  • Ensures the highest standards of clinical governance in the provision of pharmacy services and provides weekly stock levels to clinic management.

Required skills and abilities:

  • Fluent in English
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test
  • Able to supervise staff, use own initiative, and be proactive
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Honest and reliable: displays a high level of integrity since he/she may be the sole custodian of the pharmacy.

Education, Experience & Other requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in pharmacology
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a pharmacist in an acute clinical setting
  • Current unrestricted registration as a pharmacist or equivalent in the home country
  • Demonstrated sufficient recent clinical experience in the last 12 months commensurate with the role
  • A valid home country license must always be maintained.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires onsite attendance. As such, the ideal candidate will adhere to the designated work schedule within Monrovia, Liberia.
