Position Location and Details

AMI is actively seeking qualified, dynamic, and experienced candidate(s) for the role of Hospital Administrator. This position will play a crucial part in driving the transformation efforts for an upcoming project in the Republic of Nauru.

Reporting To: PMO Manager

Assignment Duration: The project duration is between sixty to ninety days, with the possibility of renewal for a longer term. The work schedule will consist of a six-day workweek.

Job Summary: The Hospital Administrator will serve as the hospital’s senior executive leader, responsible for driving strategic initiatives, overseeing daily operations, and fostering collaboration with the Ministry of Health and key stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership and operational oversight for all departments within the R.O.N. Hospital.
  • Work closely with AMI leadership and Nauru’s Ministry of Health to implement healthcare improvements and sustainable system upgrades.
  • Lead the development and execution of hospital policies, long-term strategic plans, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, quality standards, and patient safety protocols.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Build capacity within the local workforce through mentorship, training, and knowledge transfer.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with medical staff, government officials, and external partners.
  • Monitor hospital performance metrics and use data to drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Represent the hospital in community outreach efforts and public health education campaigns.

Note: The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead hospital systems through organizational change and quality improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare policy, clinical governance, and international standards of care.
  • Excellent interpersonal, cultural competency, and team-building skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.??
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.?
  • Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Education & Experience:

  1. Master’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field (required).
  2. Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience (experience in an international or resource-limited setting a big plus).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires onsite attendance. As such, the ideal candidate will adhere to the designated work schedule within Yaren, Nauru.
