Emergency Medicine Physician

About the Project/Clinic:
AMI will assist in providing staffing to VA Medical Centers across the Nation upon request.


Job Summary:
The Jennifer Moreno VA Medical Center is seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Emergency Medicine
Physicians to deliver high-quality, onsite emergency care to veterans. This opportunity allows you to
practice in a nationally accredited, state-of-the-art emergency department while serving those who
have served our country.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide full-spectrum emergency medical care in accordance with VA, Joint Commission, and
ACEP standards.
• Evaluate, stabilize, and manage emergent medical conditions across all systems, including
trauma, cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurologic, psychiatric, and more.
• Perform emergency procedures such as suturing, intubation, central line placement,
fracture/dislocation management, and cardioversion.
• Maintain timely and complete documentation using VA’s electronic health record (EHR) system,
ensuring accuracy for billing and continuity of care.
• Collaborate with nurses, advanced practice providers, and specialists to coordinate patient care
and ensure seamless transitions.
• Supervise or consult on admissions initiated by advanced practice providers; participate in
handoff communication.
• Refer patients appropriately to specialists and social services, particularly for those without
primary care or at risk of homelessness.
• Comply with all safety, infection control, medication, and patient discharge protocols.
• Participate in quality assurance, staff meetings, and training as required by the VA.
The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.


Required Skills/Abilities:
• Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and
communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.??

• Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications


Education & Experience:
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM).
• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
• Active certification in BLS and ACLS.
Additional Requirements:
• Able to pass credentialing and privileging per VHA guidelines (including submission of CME
history and background checks).
• Must be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations. Must work as a
team member to improve safety culture and quality.?

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.?
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently.
