About the Project/Clinic:
AMI will be supporting the Indian Health Service in Winnebago, NE, by providing medical staff to help
deliver compassionate, high-quality healthcare to patients in the community.


Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will provide direct patient care and support services at the Great
Plains Area Regional Drug Dependency Unit (GPARDDU) within the Winnebago Comprehensive
Healthcare System. This role involves delivering compassionate, comprehensive care to patients with
behavioral, mental health, and medical needs in a residential substance abuse treatment setting. The
CNA will assist therapeutic staff, monitor patient health, document observations, and promote a safe,
respectful, and recovery-focused environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care, including:
o Observing and reporting on physical and mental health conditions
o Assisting with physical and mental health assessments
o Administering medications as directed by nursing staff
o Preparing meals as needed
o Assisting with facilitated programming
o Documenting hourly observations and assessments in the Electronic Health Record
(EHR)
• Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and safety at all times
• Communicate professionally and effectively with IHS staff, administration, therapists, nursing,
and other team members to optimize care coordination
• Follow all IHS, GPARDDU, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures
• Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and notify nursing staff when medical
attention is required
The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.


Required Skills/Abilities:
• Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and
communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.??
• Excellent communication and time management skills.?
• Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
• Ability to collect, organize, record, and communicate behavioral and medical data effectively
• Knowledge of medical conditions, growth and development patterns, and behavioral health
considerations
• Understanding of pharmaceuticals, including desired effects, side effects, and potential
complications
• Ability to respond appropriately in stressful situations with emotional control, tact, and patience
• Skills in providing health instruction and guidance to patients and families


Education & Experience:
• Current/active CNA certification
• At least 24 months of direct patient care experience within the last 48 months
• Current/active BLS certification (American Heart Association compliant)


Additional Requirements:
• Proof of required immunizations and health clearances (including PPD/TB Gold, annual influenza
vaccination, MMR, and Hepatitis B)
• Ability to meet physical and training requirements established by IHS and GPARDDU
• Successful completion of federal background check, fingerprinting, and pre-employment
clearance
• Must be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations. Must work as a
team member to improve safety culture and quality.?
• Read and follow instructions. Demonstrate safe work behavior.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.?
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently.
