About the Project/Clinic:

AMI will be working with the Republic of Nauru to strengthen healthcare delivery, enhance operational standards, and improve the overall health and wellbeing of the local population.

Job Summary:

As part of AMI’s collaboration with the Nauru Medical Center, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Endocrinologist to provide expert diagnosis and management of hormonal and metabolic disorders. By enhancing clinical services and mentoring healthcare staff, the Endocrinologist will help strengthen Nauru’s healthcare delivery system, raise operational standards, and improve overall community health outcomes.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, treat, and manage a range of endocrine disorders, including diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, and metabolic bone diseases

  • Oversee the hospital’s diabetes care program, including prevention, education, and long-term disease management strategies

  • Interpret and order diagnostic tests such as hormone assays, imaging, and stimulation/suppression tests

  • Collaborate with other hospital specialists to provide multidisciplinary care for complex cases

  • Develop and implement clinical protocols for the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine disorders

  • Mentor and train medical staff and allied health professionals in the management of endocrine conditions

The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.?

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing both common and complex endocrine cases, with an emphasis on diabetes care

  • Proficiency in interpreting endocrine laboratory tests and imaging studies

  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.

  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

  • Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications

Education & Experience:

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialist certification in Endocrinology

  • Valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in country of training/origin and eligibility for registration in Nauru

  • Minimum of 3–5 years post-specialization clinical experience managing a full spectrum of endocrine disorders

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires onsite attendance. As such, the ideal candidate will adhere to the designated work schedule within Yaren, Nauru.
