AMI will be working with the Republic of Nauru to strengthen healthcare delivery, enhance operational standards, and improve the overall health and wellbeing of the local population.
Job Summary:
As part of AMI’s collaboration with the Nauru Medical Center, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Nephrologist who will serve as the hospital’s lead specialist for kidney health, providing comprehensive care for patients with acute and chronic kidney conditions. This role will be instrumental in enhancing clinical standards, improving renal health outcomes, and building sustainable local capacity for kidney disease management.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Diagnose and manage a wide range of kidney-related diseases, including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte imbalances, and end-stage renal disease
Provide specialized care for patients undergoing dialysis, including oversight of dialysis services and equipment maintenance standards
Interpret laboratory and imaging results related to renal health and develop tailored treatment plans
Collaborate with primary care physicians and other specialists to optimize patient management and continuity of care
Guide and oversee the clinical work of dialysis and renal care nursing staff, providing mentorship and skills development
Participate in the development and implementation of any hospital protocols for renal disease prevention, early detection, and management
The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in dialysis care, including both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
Strong background in internal medicine and related subspecialties
Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.?
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Education & Experience:
Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialist certification in Nephrology
Valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in country of training/origin and eligibility for registration in Nauru
Minimum of 3–5 years post-specialization experience managing a broad spectrum of kidney diseases
