About the Project/Clinic:
AMI will be assisting the Naval Hospital in Guam by providing nursing services as requested.


Job Summary:
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse will deliver comprehensive emergency and acute-care
nursing services to active-duty service members, veterans, dependents, and other eligible beneficiaries
at the U.S. Naval Hospital Guam. The RN will be responsible for providing safe, timely, and high-quality
patient care in accordance with Navy Medicine standards, hospital policies, and established clinical
protocols.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide patient care in accordance with Standards of Nursing Care, departmental policies, and
established clinical guidelines.
• Perform patient intake, triage, and initial assessment; obtain and document complete medical
and family histories.
• Conduct diagnostic support activities, including vital signs, specimen collection, basic laboratory
tests, and monitoring diagnostic results.
• Assist providers during diagnostic exams and minor procedures by preparing patients,
positioning, monitoring, and managing instruments and equipment.
• Perform a wide range of clinical treatments, including sterile dressing changes, IV initiation and
monitoring, catheterization, suctioning, NG tube insertion, medication administration, enemas,
and oxygen/suction setup.
• Prepare patients for tests, procedures, and surgery; collect and track laboratory specimens.
promptly communicate abnormal findings.
• Observe, document, and report changes in patient conditions; ensure interventions are
performed safely and do not cause additional distress.
• Provide routine nursing care such as hygiene support, tray management, and linen changes.
• Operate and troubleshoot essential patient-care equipment including IV pumps, oxygen delivery
systems, and monitoring devices.
• Execute physician orders accurately, ensuring correct medication administration, compliance
with isolation protocols, and adherence to universal precautions.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations, including initiating life-saving interventions
such as during cardiac arrest.
• Complete preoperative procedures; support patient admissions, transfers, discharge planning,
and follow-up care.
• Educate patients and families on procedures, medications, equipment use, recovery
expectations, and follow-up requirements; provide emotional support and ensure needed
supplies are available.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment, handle patient information and telephone
inquiries professionally and confidentially.
• Monitor clinic pharmaceutical supplies and perform daily emergency-equipment checks,
documenting and reporting discrepancies.
• Develop and implement prioritized, goal-directed nursing care plans based on patient needs and
available resources.
• Demonstrate competency in medication administration, IV therapy, blood products, TPN, IM/SQ
injections, and phlebotomy; complete refresher training when needed.
• Participate in staff development, mentoring, emergency-readiness training, and cross-training
programs; assist with BLS and other unit training initiatives.
• Provide individual and family health education and counseling to support understanding of
conditions and self-care.
• Assist with clinical procedures in accordance with professional standards and hospital protocols.
The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.


Required Skills/Abilities:
• Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and
communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Education & Experience:
• Minimum of three (3) years of Emergency Room RN experience within the last five years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA or Advanced Life Support (ALS) – ARC
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

• Must be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations. Must work as a
team member to improve safety culture and quality.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently.
