About the Project/Clinic:
AMI will be assisting in providing medical staff to the Martinsburg VA Medical Center (and its associated outpatient clinics) to help deliver compassionate and quality healthcare to patients in the area.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled/dedicated board-certified Optician to provide on-site optical dispensing services for eligible Veterans at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center and its associated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics. The Optician in this role will be responsible for fitting, measuring, adjusting, and dispensing prescription eyewear in accordance with provider prescriptions and federal standards, while ensuring a high level of patient care and satisfaction.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist Veterans with frame selection based on prescription and lifestyle needs
Perform accurate optical measurements, including pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and base curve
Fit and adjust eyeglasses to ensure comfort and proper alignment
Verify prescription specifications provided by VA Optometry/Ophthalmology providers
Perform minor repairs (e.g., replacing screws, nose pads, frame adjustments)
Educate patients on proper eyewear use and care
Maintain documentation in the VAs Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS)/EHR
Ensure compliance with ANSI and FDA standards for ophthalmic lenses and frames
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized optical workspace
Collaborate with VA clinical staff and leadership to ensure efficient patient flow
Deliver timely service (typically within 30 minutes of patient arrival)
The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.??

Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Education & Experience:
Active, full and unrestricted Optician license
American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification
Strong technical proficiency in optical dispensing and adjustments
Proven experience with optical tools (lensometer, pupilometer, frame adjustment tools, etc.)
